49ers add DE depth to practice squad, release RB

It was reported on Tuesday that the 49ers would be making a change to their practice squad.

End of the defensive line Once again, Austin Bryant is a member of the club. 

For the purpose of making place for the veteran defensive end, running back Jeremy McNichols was released.

Earlier in the season, Bryant was a member of the 49ers and participated in games during Weeks 1 and 5. 

He made one tackle during the 49ers' victory over the Cowboys in Week 5. He was a member of the Vikings practice squad,

however on January 15 he was removed from his position. Clelin Ferrell is currently dealing with a knee injury that is expected to keep him out of action for a couple of weeks. 

When McNichols joined the 49ers' practice squad in late September, he was given the opportunity to participate in three games. 

His total number of special teams snaps during those three games was twenty.
