The No. 1 seed San Francisco 49ers are coming off a first-round bye in the NFL Playoffs to face the Green Bay Packers, and Christian McCaffrey has positive news about his damaged calf.
According to Ian Rapoport of NFL Network, 49ers coach Kyle Shanahan stated that McCaffrey will be fully participating in practice on Wednesday.
"#49ers coach Kyle Shanahan informs media that RB Christian McCaffrey will fully participate in practice today. His damaged calf seemed to have recovered after the bye week."
McCaffrey was relieved that he and the rest of the 49ers had time to relax before being tested in the season's most important games.
"We all need it—I know I need it," McCaffrey said following the 49ers' 27-10 victory over Washington. "So I'm excited to just take a breath and get everything back to normal."
McCaffrey was injured in the third quarter of the 49ers' win over Washington and did not return to action. Head coach Kyle Shanahan did not appear very concerned at the time, but he did admit
that if San Francisco had needed to beat the Los Angeles Rams in the season finale to secure the No. 1 spot, McCaffrey may have been impacted.
McCaffrey has had an amazing season for the 49ers, leading the league with 1,449 running yards and 14 touchdowns on the ground. He has also grabbed 67 passes for an extra 564 yards and seven scores in the air.
