Arizona football is now without a coach after Jedd Fisch abruptly left the Wildcats for the Washington Huskies.
It was a surprising and abrupt reversal, given Fisch and the university were allegedly "nearing the goal line" on a restructured,
better deal on Saturday.Arizona was aware that Fisch, who led the Wildcats to a 10-3 season with an Alamo Bowl victory, was attracting interest from Washington (who lost Kalen DeBoer to Alabama)
and even the NFL, and it looked that the university was willing to pay a premium to keep the talented 47-year-old.
A day later, Fisch was hired to replace DeBoer in Washington. Just like that.
Arizona is currently hemorrhaging, and that is not an understatement.
On Thursday, nine players revealed their intentions to use the transfer site in less than 30 minutes.
Brent Brennan, previously of San Diego State, was promptly appointed to succeed Fisch, but the damage may have already been done in Tucson.
