The Houston Rockets have made a bigger leap than many predicted. After their moves, they are 19-20, putting them in the midst of the postseason race.
According to NBA Insider Marc Stein, they are looking to expand their present roster. According to Stein, one of their objectives is Sacramento Kings wing Harrison Barnes.
"According to league sources, the Rockets are also interested in Sacramento's Harrison Barnes as they want to add shooting.
"The Kings, on the other hand, are publicly attempting to utilize Barnes' contract (which is in its first year of a three-year, $54 million extension) as the centerpiece of a trade package for a major acquisition
Barnes' contract, for example, has been key to Sacramento's conversations with Toronto about a potential Pascal Siakam trade," Stein said in a January 16 article.
Stein explained why the Rockets will be buyers at the NBA Trade Deadline.
"The Rockets are known to be in the market for additional size in support of rising star Alperen Şengün and possess two trade-friendly contracts:
Victor Oladipo's expiring $9.5 million deal and Jock Landale's four-year, $32 million deal that is only guaranteed this season."
