The center for the Philadelphia Eagles, Jason Kelce, refutes any retirement deliberations.

Jason Kelce, Philadelphia Eagles center, denies retiring, saying there is "too much emotion" after his team's playoff defeat.

After the loss against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, the 36-year-old announced his teammates he was retiring, according to US media.

In his New Heights podcast, Kelce denied making the decision.

"There's too much going down in the moment to really fully grasp that decision," said Kelce.

"I don't think you can make that decision after a game like that. The occasion is too emotional.

"I'm not dramatizing or prolonging this. Not really.

"When it's time to officially announce what's happening, it'll be done in a way that's definitive and pays respect to a lot of people that have meant a lot to me and have led to the career I've had."

In Week 6, he broke the franchise record with his 145th consecutive start for the Eagles after signing a one-year contract in March.
